Our College

Our_College.jpgStudents at Leibler Yavneh College are constantly encouraged to develop a love of learning, from the study of Torah to the study of maths and science. From art, drama and music to sport, we want all our students to enjoy their learning and thrive on their new experiences. Through a wide range of subjects, an impressive selection of co and extra curricular experiences and a dynamic environment, our students are nurtured and developed.

Yavneh consistently excels in the VCE and is among the top rated independent schools in the state.

Our Extension and Enrichment program and our modified curriculum for children with special requirements ensure that all children receive an education that caters for individual needs. Our extensive student leadership program, including the Hadracha Training program, democratically elected Student Representative Council, College Captains and House Captains, helps to encourage active student participation in various levels of decision-making, giving our students a real sense of “ownership” over many student-related issues. Our extensive formal and informal Jewish Studies program, including Zionist seminars, Shabbatonim, and year-level retreat camps, helps to educate the whole child as a proud and knowledgeable Jew and Australian, so that our students are inspired with a love of Torah, Israel and their heritage and a belief in their destiny as Jews in a modern, sophisticated world. Please take the time to browse our website, learn about the many, varied and exciting opportunities available to all Yavneh students (Preschool – Year 12) and be inspired to visit our school. If you would like to make an appointment for a tour please call Louisa Gibson, Enrolment Registrar, on 9528 4911. We would love to meet you and your family.

About Yavneh

Profile at a glance
Leibler Yavneh College was founded in 1962 and began in Balaclava Road with 53 students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 1. It was established with the clear objective of attaining high standards in Jewish and General Studies. The College saw its first Year 6 graduates in 1966 and for the next 13 years operated solely as a primary school. In 1979 a secondary school was opened on a site in Mercer Road, Armadale, and six years later Leibler Yavneh College proudly presented its first VCE graduates. By 1989 the College was expanding at such a rate that larger premises were required. This led to the acquisition of the present Slezak Campus in Elsternwick, which today accommodates more than 600 students from Prep to Year 12. The remaining junior and senior kindergarten students (totaling almost 100) are accommodated at the Abeles-Liberman Pre-school in Balaclava Road, Caulfield.
