The day to day operations of the College are managed by a senior management team led by the College Principal. The College senior management team consists of:
College Principal: Mr Roy Steinman
As College Principal and CEO, Roy Steinman BA (Hons), HDE, TTD oversees Leibler Yavneh College’s teaching practices and acts as the custodian of its educational vision. He is responsible for strategic planning, as well as the development of innovative educational projects, ensuring that the College continues to meet the challenges of the future with confidence. He is also responsible for maintaining consistency of policy and application across Preschool, Primary and Secondary Schools.
Roy joined Leibler Yavneh in 2007 having served as College Principal of Moriah College in Sydney for ten years. Previous experience includes a three year principalship at Herzlia High School in Cape Town, South Africa and Deputy Principal and Head of the English Faculty at King David School in Johannesberg, South Africa. Roy continues to teach English, as an integral part of his day to day activities . “Being in the classroom is important. Without the ‘hands-on’ direct contact with staff and students, it would be impossible to effectively monitor and evaluate our teaching and learning standards throughout the College”.
Deputy College Principal and Head of General Studies in the Secondary School: Mrs Denise Brown
Mrs Denise Brown, BA (Hon) Dip Ed, has a wealth of experience in all areas of the College. She has been Head of General Studies in the Primary school as well as Head of General Studies in Secondary. Prior to coming to Leibler Yavneh College, Mrs Brown taught in Tasmania as well as rural Victoria. Her innate ability to relate to children of all ages ensures that every student, not only feels valued but also heard. She has a similar ability to bring out the best in all staff. She continues her teaching role with VCE students finding this to be the highlight of her day.
Deputy College Principal and Head of Jewish Studies: Mr Adam Segal

Mr Adam Segal, BA (Hons) Dip Ed, Grad Dip Special Ed, Graduate Senior Jewish educators, has a vast experience in Jewish Studies education. His first three months at Yavneh in 2007, initiated the process of revising our Jewish Studies programs. Adam looks forward to making some changes to enrich our programs for 2008. Leibler Yavneh College is a truly unique school. Built around the ideals of Modern Orthodox Zionism it clearly defines its purpose and raison d'etre. However, we must never lose sight of our goal. A school based on true Torah values that strives for excellence in all areas of learning, from Gemara to science, from Chumash to mathematics. As a parent and educator, Adam believes that we strive to give our children the knowledge, skills and conviction that will prepare them for life as proud and knowledgeable Jewish Australians.
Deputy Principal Curriculum: Peter Cummins
Peter Cummins will be joining Leibler Yavneh College on 22 September as Deputy Principal Curriculum. He has been employed at Mentone Grammar since 1997, initially as a Science teacher and since 2006, Head of Curriculum Prep to Year 12. He has also taught at schools in Bendigo, Adelaide and the UK. In his current role, he is responsible for curriculum administration tasks including timetabling, assessment and reporting, subject selection and counselling and co-ordination of VCE and VET.
Head of Administration: Mr David Fisher
David Fisher BSc, CPA, AIM oversees the day to day management of the College. With many years of commercial management experience he has enhanced the professional operation of the College administration. He is responsible for all the timetabling and scheduling of activities and programs, budgets, site management, buildings, government grants together with a range of global responsibilities. David has four children, three of whom are graduates from Yavneh. His motto is "a happy staff makes a happy school".

Head of General Studies in the Primary School: Mrs Elka Gaensler
Elka Gaensler (Master Education, leadership policy change, BA Dip Ed Prim, ECE Dip, Cert G & T Education) is a passionate educator who sees children as the centre of the educational process. She has been at Yavneh for three years and has three adult children of her own. She is a graduate of Mount Scopus College where she also taught for a number of years. She has previously worked at the Doncaster Jewish Day School and the Primary School Masada College NSW.
Head of Student Services: Mrs Esther Meltzer
Mrs Esther Meltzer, B Appl Sc (Occupational Therapy), Grad Dip (Special Education, Jerusalem) and M Ed (Gifted and Talented), has been at the College for 24 years as a kindergarten teacher, special education teacher and Hebrew teacher. She has 6 children, 2 of whom still attend Yavneh and 4 who are graduates. She has worked as an Occupational Therapist in Australia and Israel, where she lived for 6 years. As the College's Head of Student Services, Esther manages and supports the academic, social and emotional needs of the students and oversees a team of Psychologists, Special Education / Curriculum Support staff and Integration Aides. When she's not at school Esther likes to read, travel, swim and explore new and exciting opportunities and challenges. She is passionate about being able to make a difference to the lives of children and endeavours to turn ordinary days into extraordinary opportunities for each of our Yavneh members.
Head of the Early Learning Centre: Mrs Elana Trevaks
Elana Trevaks holds a Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood), a post graduate Degree in Special Education and has completed National Workplace Assessor Training. Elana has worked in the Early Years Learning field for 26 years in both the State and Jewish Day School system. Elana has also enjoyed extensive experience in Children’s Services Departments in Local Government, holding managerial roles for the City of Yarra and Bayside. She has supervised Childcare studies students on field placements for Holmesglen Tafe and was most recently the Head of Pre-School Education at the King David School. This is the second time Elana has worked at Yavneh having been a Special Education Coordinator for Years 4 to 6 from 1989 to 1992.

Chief Financial Officer: Mr Daniel Goodman
Daniel Goodman has been employed at Dennis family Corporation as Financial Controller since his arrival in Melbourne. He worked in South Africa at the Imperial Group since 2001. He worked in various divisions and has extensive experience in the property, motor and tourism industries and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
